If He was not God He could not have lived a sinless life and His death on the cross would have been meaningless. It would have been no different than our deaths. It would not have paid the wages of our sin. If He was not God He could not save us. 2 Corinthians 5:21: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
If He was not God He could not have been separate from sinners and higher than the heavens; Hebrews 4:15: For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 7:26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; 1 Peter 2:21: For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:1 John 3:5: And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. If He was not God He could not have laid down His life and taken it again. John 10:17: Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
If He was not God He could not give us eternal life. John 10:27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 1 John 5:11: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.Acts 4:12: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. |
